Providing communities with potable water is our top priority! We are currently installing a new water system to provide drinkable water to the neediest primary schools and their communities. Our future goals will be to provide many other communities with accesses to other springs by constructing small cube shaped cisterns with a surrounding fence to keep livestock out. Reservoirs will be placed at the base of springs will collect and store water and tubing will carry water downhill to two schools and their respective communities for drinking, bathing, and some irrigation for their fields.
During the winter of 2022, with the help of the clinic in Pitumarca, we provided blood tests for as many primary aged students as possible to establish a baseline for hemoglobin levels among these children throughout the region.
Our Peruvian team was aided by local nurses to visit communities throughout the Ausangate valley to take blood tests and document children’s, health, and improvement of wellness. A local doctor and dentist volunteered to do provide examinations to more thoroughly document children’s health. We plan to continue this program on a yearly basis.
This past summer season of 2021, the AVI team in Peru supplied approximately 200 primary age school children with school supply kits such as workbooks, pens, pencils and coloring crayons. These kits allowed the children to graduate to the next grade. We plan to continue providing school supplies to these communities on a yearly basis. During the winter of 2022, we distributed supplies to even more remote communities in the Ausangate valley. We also plan to provide much needed hot lunches and uniforms for these children and will continue to provide school supplies on a yearly basis.
Together we can deliver hope and build a better world.
